I feel like I am being penalized twice. My bankruptcy until 2011 and again for all the accounts that was in my bankruptcy. I didn`t know if they were allowed to do that.
When I checked my credit report my bankruptcy is showing and also each separate account is there also.?
A lot of people are under the impression that a bankruptcy will %26quot;Clear%26quot; your credit report, this is false. It does clear your debt, but since your report contains your history that information will remain.
However, you need to make sure that the accounts are being reported correctly. Each of the accounts that were included in the bankruptcy must be noted as %26quot;Included in Bankruptcy%26quot;. They also must have a 0 balance. If they are not listed that way you need to dispute it to have it corrected, but you will not be able to get them removed.
The accounts will only remain on there for 7 years from the date of the negative item. So if the accounts were charged off, it would be 7 years from the date of last delinquency. Since a bankruptcy is on your report for 10 years, there will be a period of time when the accounts will be gone, but the bankruptcy will remain.
Assuming you filed a chapter 7, if your bankruptcy remains until 2011, you would have filed sometime in 2001. So some good news is that even though they are still on there, at the latest the accounts should be off sometime in 2008(depending on the exact last delinquency dates).

Yes they can, your atty should have told you that,

The only thing that changes is your accounts should be listed as %26quot;Included in bankruptcy%26quot; they will all continue to show for 7-years along with the bankruptcy for 10-years.
