I THINK IT LOOKS BETTER THAN IF YOU DIDN%26#039;T SETTLE THE DEBT. NOT SETTLING A DEBT IS REALLY DAMAGING AND SHOWS CREDITORS THAT YOU ARE A HIGH RISK. THE FACT THAT YOU PAID IT SHOWS THE CREDITORS THAT YOU PAID YOUR DEBT AS AGREED AND THE CREDIT AGENCY MARKS IT THAT WAY. IF THEY DO NOT THEN YOU SHOULD CONTACT THEM AND HAVE THEM CHANGE IT TO PAID AS AGREED. WHEN YOU HAVE A DEBT IT ONLY STAYS ON YOUR CREDIT FOR 7 YEARS GOOD OR BAD. THEY DO NOT REMOVE IT JUST BECAUSE YOU PAID IT. HOWEVER, YOU MIGHT TRY CONTACTING THE COLLECTION AGENCY THAT YOU PAID THE DEBT IN FULL TO. ASK THEM IF THEIR IS ANY CHANCE OF THEM REMOVING IT FROM YOUR CREDIT. YOU COULD TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO REESTABLISH YOUR CREDIT TO BUY A HOUSE OR CONDO AND ARE TRYING TO BE A RESPONSIBLE ASSET TO SOCIETY. IF THEY DO AGREE YOU SHOW THEM YOUR GRATITUDE BY SAYING THANK YOU AND THAT YOU%26#039;LL NEVER FORGET THE CHANCE THEY GAVE YOU TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR YOUR SELF.
If a collection agency on my credit report is %26quot;paid in full%26quot; how does that affect my credit score?
Unfortunately every time a new creditor looks at your report the collection agency will appear at the top of the list, paid or not.
In order to get this negative entry taken off of you report, you must contact the three major reporting bureaus show them proof of your payment status and demand that they remove the damaging entries.

The damage is done. At the time your paid the debt you could have requested that the collection agency remove the account form your report. They can only do that with the clients permission.
Now that the debt is paid you have lost your leverage to get it removed. Contacting the 3 major reporters as the 1st person said will do nothing. It is being reported correctly and that is all they are required to do.
Sorry

I agree with llwhateverll%26#039;s response.
%26quot;paid in full%26quot; means nothing if it also shows the debt was in collections or was late. The scam collection agents play on you is saying %26quot;if you pay your debt, your credit score will improve%26quot;.
You need to get IN WRITING that they will REMOVE the listing, or remove any negative comments and list it as %26quot;paid as agreed%26quot;.
The only person who can change that listing is the creditor, and now that he has your money, you will find working with them very difficult.
