I have a civil judgement for an item that was filed in 2001. I never made a payment on it since 1997 though, what date does the 7 year statue of limitations go from date of judgement or date of being deliquent??
Should this be on my credit report still??
A judgement in Florida will stay on your credit report for 10 years. If they don%26#039;t re-submit it to the courts it will then fall off. However, most companies will spend the $50 to re-submit it. You will then have it for another 10 years. Until you pay it off, be prepared for them to some day decide to garnish your wages. At a time when you least suspect it, and usually when you have your budget pushed to the extreme already, BAM! You get hit with them taking a couple hundred a month out of your paychecks.
I reccomend getting in touch with them and start making payments.
Good luck!

From the date the court awarded the judgment.
Also, if the judgment is never paid, the person or company who was awarded it can re-enroll it every 7 years until it is paid. I just re-enrolled a judgment for a client last week. As long as they get it re-enrolled before the 7 years ends, it will still be out there.
********sorry, I should have mentioned the time frame may vary from state to state!

you debt is being sold to other collecters and it all starts over again as if it was a new debt...they are real creeps...good luck

The Statute of Limitation (SOL) on how long a creditor can collect on a judgment vary from state to state. Check the link below.
http://www.cardreport.com/laws/judgement...
Judgments remain on your credit reports for ten years.

Judgments can be held on your account for 10 years because it is a public record.
