It%26#039;s all bs. I got caught on one. Now they are charging my credit card and I have already cancelled them a month ago. They say it%26#039;s a free trial and still ask for a credit card and then just charge you monthly fee even if you stopped the trial. Don%26#039;t fall for it.

There are several different scams. The most common seems to be a sort of %26quot;bait %26amp; switch,%26quot; where they actually WILL give you one free report or a month of free reports, but require that you give them your credit card info in order to sign up for the free reports.

Signing up is considered acceptance of their offer, the consideration in the deal being the free report(s).

In addition, most people are not aware that credit reports - ordered by you, your potential landlord, for a new credit card application, etc. - actually lower your score each time they are ordered. A report every once in awhile (say, once or twice a year) won%26#039;t have much effect as your credit can recoup. However, if you order a report once a month, this could significantly lower your credit rating.

After that, they begin to charge you. It can add up quickly. It%26#039;s not pretty.
