Natwest - charges for providing credit report for Banks?

Hi all,

I recently have rented a property from an estate agent in the UK. When doing this they said they were going to request some details from my bank - I guess asking if I had used regular standing orders to pay rent before, or to ask if I could afford the monthly figure. Natwest charged me 鎷?.50 to do this. Why? Do other banks charge this amount?
