There are hard pulls and soft pulls. If you are calling your credit card company or something, they may be doing hard pulls by default and you should be yelling at them for doing it. Well, you shouldn%26#039;t be doing it though them int he first place.

You are legally entitled to a free credit report from each of the three bureaus each year. Use those.

Your credit score does not go down if YOU check your report. It only takes a hit when others check it. Especially if you are applying for new credit.
