Why my credit card still appear in my credit report after closing it a long time ago.?

I am trying to get a loan and this is the cause for rejection.

It seems hard to believe that you would be rejected for a loan for a credit card that is in good standing (if it is closed you can%26#039;t be late on payments). I would probe to find more info on your rejection because it is unlikely the card causing it.

As far as the reason for it showing up there are two options:

1. You looked at a credit report form a %26quot;credit monitoring%26quot; company - one that charges you a monthly fee to see your report. They VERY rarely update your credit report sometimes only once every 6 months, even htough they %26quot;scan%26quot; it for activity every day. I would suggest getting a report directly from the bureau.

2. The company never reported the card closed... Give them a call.

I think it stays on your credit report for 5 or 7 years.

If you had bad credit in the past it can be as long as 7 years for it to come off the report. You might try contacting the credit card company and see if they will drop it from the report, but it is unlikely that they will. Good luck. I%26#039;m in the same boat myself.

Your use of that account is still a part of your credit history, and will remain so for up to 7 years. If there%26#039;s a mistake you can contact the various reporting bureaus and have it removed, but if it%26#039;s something legit then tough luck, shoulda paid your debts.

Straight up let be real now...the card is kept on there for a reason...its for them folk to tell whether or not you is credit worthy or a deadbeat payer...any kind of credit good or bad is reported to them and they keeps it on there for 7 years...except for court stuff like bankrupt or chapter don%26#039;t ever be taken off..

Lines of credit continue to show for 7-years from the date of last activity. If this is really the reason that you were turned down? Your pay history must have not been very good or you closed it with a outstanding balance that is still showing up.

O.B.T.W. the previous post is wrong bankruptcy%26#039;s drop off your credit after 10-years.
