Has anyone checked their credit report and found that they had supposedly co-signed for someone else

I did. On the same day that I purchased a car from a local car lot, I mysteriously co-signed for someone else to get a car. I%26#039;m still in the process of checking it out, but I don%26#039;t believe that my case is an isolated one. Car salesmen didn%26#039;t get a bad reputation because they%26#039;re honest. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

You need to contact the credit bureaus immediately and the police. This is fraud and identity theft. This is not a joke and not something to check out. You have been the victim of a crime and need to immediately takes steps to fix this issue. 90% of cosigners end up paying for the car and your credit score will be ruined. Do not just forget about it . Report it to your local district attorney or the better business bureau . Insist on getting a copy of the paper from the place that applied for the loan so you can see what your handwriting looks like where you supposedly signed .

Good thing you checked your credit report . That is fraudulent and a crime .

i checked mine and according to it i have had a phone with verizon,never have,ive had several credit cards 2 of which were paid in full others werent,my credit was checked so many times by companies never heard of.its identity theft and it can hurt you bad.these ppl have fun doing it but your the one left to pay for it.not fair i know.ggod luck in your search
