How to cleanup my credit report without having to pay someone?
You can order your report from all three agencies to make sure you know what is showing on it first.
Contact each company as you are able financially to make arrangements for payment. you will be suprised how willing they will be to accept some payment versus none for unsecured debt that they did not expect to get anything for.
When you call the companies, start off by offereing about 1/3 of the payment to settle, but then work up to what they will accept and compromise with what you feel you can pay afford to pay.
Make sure to get whatever arrangement you make in writing and also have them note your account as paid in full vs. paid collection account once you complete the arrangements. This makes a difference on your credit score.
Hope this info helps.....

It takes about 7 years for your credit history to be considered a less accurate indication of your financial attitudes, so if you messed up yesterday, it might take 7 years to establish a new banking history. Notice I said MIGHT. If you%26#039;ve been declared bankrupt, that is a huge blight on your record, and I wouldn%26#039;t go applying for a loan anytime soon.
Credit checks will record how many applications you make for credit, regardless of whether the cards or loans were issued. Too many cards or loans makes you look like a risk to the bank.
Cancel a few cards, if appropriate. Most people don%26#039;t actually need credit cards. That is what emergency savings are for. I like to have 2 grand tucked away in a bank account just in case I need car repairs or a new washing machine.
If you have credit card debt, pay the highest interest rate card off first. Always pay more than the minimum repayment. If you stick to the minimum repayment, it can take a decade to pay the card off. Seriously. And it costs thousands of dollars in interest, which you would rather be spending on other things, right? So pay as much as you can off the highest interest rate card or loan, and get out of debt as fast as you can.
Start a savings history. A savings history of 2 years, with regular deposits into a high interest bank account, looks fantastic to banks. I never ever had a credit card before I applied for my home loan. I got the loan based on the fact that I%26#039;d put about $100 a week into a savings account and left it there. It got a high amount of interest, which was an incentive to keep it there, and if I needed it for something (car repairs, living expenses if I lost my job) it was there. It gave me a tremendous feeling of security, just knowing that money was there.
I was a casual employee at the time I got my homeloan, (I%26#039;m Australian) which means that I could be sacked at any time, with no benefits. The financial organisation looked beyond this and gave me a loan based on the fact that I%26#039;d consistenly saved money, and that I%26#039;d been with the same employer for two years. So saving money, even if it%26#039;s only $50 a week (the more the better) will help establish a good record with the bank. Start this once you have paid off any outstanding debts like personal or car loans or credit cards.
Once you have paid off debt, and started saving, you can start planning to invest some money. This is good in case you ever need to apply for a loan, because you can use it for a deposit on a car or house. You can start with as little as $1000 or $2000. Start by seeing a financial planner at your local bank, (which is often free, but check with your bank) or ask an accountant if they can recommend someone. A financial planner can help you draw up a plan for investment, work out how comfortable you are with risk, and work out the time frame over which you want to invest. They can then recommend the best investment product for your needs.
When you are ready to take a loan, shop around for the best rate. Check with ASIC (in Australia) to see if they%26#039;re legitimate. A good savings history can help offset any regrettable credit events of your past, and its a sad fact of life that the riskier you look to a lender, the higher the interest rate you will pay.
Always go for the lowest rate you can, but check for fees and charges, and don%26#039;t be afraid to do your sums.
Feel free to email me if you have any more questions. I%26#039;m a finance freak.

The 3 agencies get the same information, but calculate your score a little differently. Here%26#039;s the biggest tips to clean up your credit.
1. Pick one agency to get your report or go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i... to get a free annual report.
2. Make sure your info is correct, if anything is wrong report it.
3. Pay your bills on time.
4. Lower your credit balance to 35% of the each card%26#039;s limit, don%26#039;t just revolve the debt to another card.
5. If you have more than 4 credit cards (including store cards) pay off the cards with the highest interest or annual fees and close them, unless one is the longest card you%26#039;ve had.
Store credit cards are good to increase credit if you%26#039;re being denied credit cards, otherwise their worthless. A major brand credit card can be used in more places, provide higher credit limits, and offer lower interest.
Hope this helps :)
