New laws allow for some to receive up to 1 free credit report per year. If you have been turned down for a loan, you can receive a free copy of your credit report. The best thing to do is contact each of the three credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and Transunion. You should be able to find their address either in your telephone directory or by doing a search on the Internet.

Go to freeannualcreditreport.com. You can get 3 different reports, but only once a year.

BY FEDERAL LAW, you are entitled to a free report from each of the three Credit Reporting Agencies (Experian, TransUnion, Equifax). You can order all three at once, or spread them out throughout the year, but you can only get one free from each agency once a year. Each report will include all debt reported to that agency, and details on each debt. Your report, however, will not include your FICO Score - which is what most lenders use to determine your credit-worthiness. Most of the agencies will add the score for a small fee for around $5.

There are many scam sites out there, so make sure you go to the only site endorsed by the Federal Trade Commission - doing so will make sure that you get your report free without having to sign up fpr a credit monitoring service.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only government approved website to receive your free credit reports.

They do not ask for your credit card nor do they require you to sign up for other services.

The FACT ACT allows everyone to receive a free credit report from each of the bureaus, once every 12 months.
