How long will i show bad credit on credit report and does it ever clear?

Luckily things can drop off your credit report...it takes seven years. You can better help yourself if you obtain a copy of your credit report online at www.annualcreditreport.com and dispute the negative items on your report. They have 30 days to repsond to your dispute and if they don%26#039;t it gets removed from your file forever.

You can dispute things if they weren%26#039;t errors. A lot of the time the creditor doesn%26#039;t have the proper paperwork to back up your debt. And it IS seven years in CA. I know from my own experience with creditors. Do not send them a payment if the statute of limitations on how long they can file a suit against you is near it will restart your clock and you will owe them the money as of the day they received your money meaning your seven years will restart.

it was formerly 7 years before items would begin falling off of your credit report, however since the laws changed this past year it%26#039;s now 10 years. Your best bet is to pull your credit report and dispute any errors %26amp; as for the negative items call the creditors %26amp; negotiate a payoff balance.

It depends on you :

2 things :

- your bad credit history reduces your score

- your good credit history (you pay on time, have a good job, regular income, regular address, savings...) increases youor score
