Yes, we have a Verizon phone bill of about 3500 dollars from 2002 that just now appeared out of thin air, with no other prior notice or knowledge of having that kind of bill. We%26#039;re trying to fight it now. First thing we did was to contact the company and request they send us all the statements and breakdowns of calls made that whole year, even though they claim this bill was accumulated over a month%26#039;s time (yeah right). Not from my home it wasn%26#039;t.

Thankfully, I have never had an account on my credit report that wasn%26#039;t mine. You need to file a dispute with the bureaus right away to get it corrected. They must either verify through the companies that they are your accounts or remove them from your report. You may also try contacting the companies directly, but I would wait on the response from the dispute.

79% of all credit reports contain errors of some kind. 1 in 4 have serious errors that could cause the consumer to be denied credit. You should dispute the accuracy of the report. The burden shifts to the CRA%26#039;s to verify the accuracy. If they can%26#039;t, it comes off.

Good Luck!

Sounds like you may have been a victim of identity theft. This can range from a stranger stealing identifying information or a friend/family member using your information to open various accounts.

First dispute the accounts with the credit bureau(s) and then try and put together a paper trail of the account in question. You may be able to find out an approximate time when your personal identifying information was taken. If you can get enough information then you can file a report with police. Also be sure to have all the credit bureaus flag your credit report in reference to identity theft.

Yes! Just recently I vviewed my annual credit report and found an account that owed some big buck that I NEVER opened up! I was so freaked out about it but I simply contacted the credit bureau and let them know that there was a discrepency. they aske dto me to fill out a form online in which they asked why the information was discrepent, I checked because I didn%26#039;t know about the account. About a week later I got a letter in the mail showing proof of removal. I was suprised that it was that easy but it really was. ok hope that it works out for you :)
